Percentage of Monthly Fee Increases

Few topics concern CCRC residents more than the annual increase in their monthly fees.  Over the years, these annual monthly fee increases, on top of the initial fee, create a challenge for some residents in meeting their other financial obligations, such as medical co-pays, drugs, insurance, etc. This is especially true for residents who have lived at their CCRCs for fifteen or more years.

It surprises me that many residents are surprised and concerned that there is (any) increase. I get that they are more elderly and perhaps have less savings. But if you live outside your community, you will have a gigantic increase in rental or whatever.

Resident of a CCRC

Linda,

Yes, some long-term residents, who have lived at my CCRC for 15 to 20 years, are concerned about running out of money. But also, my husband and I were surprised that our monthly fee almost doubled within just 4 years.
